    The Richardson School (100% employee owned!) is now accepting applications for a special education teacher position at our West Allis location!

     

    The Richardson School provides a year-round school option for local districts to access for children with special needs. Typically these children have been dual diagnosed with developmental or neurological disabilities and emotional, behavioral or mental health disorders.

     

    The Richardson School serves children with a range of intellectual disabilities, including those who are non-verbal. We serve children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, Asperger’s syndrome, pervasive developmental disorders, learning disabilities, neurological impairments, behavioral disorders, speech and language impairments, genetic disorders, seizure disorders and other neurological disabilities. Children with developmental disabilities, as well as multiple medical conditions, including sight or hearing impairments, are also carefully considered for services, depending on other diagnostic features.

    Responsibilities

    • Develops and implements overall classroom Behavior Management Plan.
    • Provides individualized educations and engages students in active learning.
    • Uses approve treatment techniques in supervising and education students.
    • Updates progress and manages students' IEP's.
    • Work direction and oversight to Instructional Aides working in their classroom.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
    • Be certified by the State of Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction in one of the following licenses: Cross-Categorical Special Education (1801), Special Education Middle Childhood – Early Adolescence (MC-EA), Special Education Early Childhood through Adolescence (EC-A), or Special Education Early Adolescence through Adolescence (EA-A).
    • Experience working with emotionally disturbed or cognitively disabled individuals preferred.
    • Remains calm under pressure and maintains self-composure
    • Demonstrates an ability to exercise food judgement and effectively solve problems.
